Forward Deployed Engineer
About the Role
Forward-Deployed Engineers sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer success. You'll own full-stack features end-to-end, with a focus on building for enterprise procurement requirements. You will collaborate closely with Fortune 500 procurement teams to architect and implement sophisticated contract analysis pipelines and negotiation APIs, directly fueling our cutting-edge autonomous negotiation agents with terabytes of real-world procurement data. You will be instrumental in shaping solutions for enterprise clients, all while learning and growing your AI skills in a truly AI-first company at the forefront of agentic negotiation systems.
What You'll Be Doing
Enterprise Integration & Data Infrastructure:
Design & build scalable backend services and contract processing pipelines written in Python and deployed with Docker & Kubernetes
Integrate with enterprise procurement ecosystems—major systems such as SAP, Oracle, Coupa, and GEP ERP, GraphQL/REST APIs, SFTP feeds, and event buses (Kafka, Pulsar)
Wrangle large, heterogeneous procurement datasets—model, transform, and index multi-modal, multi-terabyte enterprise contract and vendor data for advanced negotiation workloads
AI-Powered Negotiation Systems:
Develop enterprise-level autonomous negotiation AI systems with the support of Monq's AI specialists
Build data pipelines that feed contract intelligence, vendor benchmarking, and negotiation performance analytics to AI agents
Create real-time integrations supporting autonomous negotiation agents and strategic decision-making dashboards
Full-Stack Enterprise Solutions:
Ship complete customer features—from architecture and code to CI/CD, infra-as-code (Terraform), rollout, and procurement team training
Build enterprise-grade security, compliance, and audit capabilities for high-value contract negotiations
Contribute across the stack—build lightweight front-ends for negotiation dashboards when needed and pair with AI engineers on inference and evaluation pipelines
Customer Collaboration:
Collaborate directly with procurement executives & operators—run white-boarding sessions, turn ambiguous negotiation requirements into concrete specs, demo weekly, and iterate fast
Work on-site with Fortune 500 procurement teams to understand complex negotiation workflows and enterprise integration needs
Champion observability & reliability—instrument services with OpenTelemetry, define SLIs/SLOs for mission-critical negotiation systems, and automate incident response
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
Professional Experience: 5+ years of professional software-engineering experience, ideally in enterprise B2B environments
Programming Skills: Fluent in Python and comfortable in TypeScript/JavaScript for full-stack development
Data Systems Expertise: Built and operated data-intensive systems (batch & streaming) in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Database Knowledge: Know your way around relational, columnar, and KV/graph databases—and when to use which for enterprise procurement data
Enterprise Integration Experience:
Real-World Enterprise Integration: Integrated with enterprise stacks—authentication, SSO, legacy ERPs, message queues, ETL tools, particularly in procurement or finance domains
Solution Architecture: Can take a loosely defined procurement problem, sketch an architecture, and deliver a production-ready solution in weeks, not months
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clearly with both engineers and business stakeholders; you enjoy hopping on a customer call with procurement executives to debug an API contract
Professional Skills:
High-Ownership Environment: Thrive in an early-stage, high-ownership environment—prototype today, deploy tomorrow, iterate next week
Enterprise Security Understanding: Experience with enterprise-grade security, compliance, and audit requirements
Customer-Facing Capability: Comfortable working directly with Fortune 500 procurement teams and understanding complex business requirements
Nice to Have
AI & Domain Experience:
LLM Integration Experience: Experience deploying or consuming LLM-powered services (OpenAI, open-source models, RAG, vector stores) can be a bonus. However, we consider many great candidates without previous AI experience
Procurement Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with strategic procurement, contract negotiation, vendor management, or enterprise sourcing domains
Document Processing: Experience with complex document parsing, contract analysis, or legal/procurement document workflows
Advanced Technical Skills:
Multi-Agent Systems: Understanding of AI agent coordination and autonomous system design
Enterprise Architecture: Experience with large-scale enterprise software architecture and integration patterns
Business Intelligence: Background in building analytics and reporting systems for executive-level decision making

Important notice for candidates
Job scams are on the rise, and fraudsters sometimes impersonate companies like Monq to target applicants. Please keep these guidelines in mind when applying for any of our open roles:
Apply only through official Monq channels. We post roles solely on our own careers page and verified partner job boards such as LinkedIn. We don't use third-party agents or platforms to manage our recruitment, and we'll never contact you about a role you didn't apply for.
Verify every email. All genuine communication from our team comes from an official @monq.io address. Check the sender's full address carefully—lookalike domains (extra letters, swapped characters, or free email providers like Gmail or Outlook) are a red flag.
We will never ask for money or financial details. Monq does not request payment, equipment fees, or personal financial information (bank details, card numbers, deposits) at any stage of the hiring process. Any such request is a scam.
When in doubt, confirm. If something feels off, pause and verify directly with us before responding or sharing any information.
If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Monq, please don't reply or click any links. Report it to us at security@monq.io and, where relevant, to your local authorities.
